Cartoon a new low for Daily Herald
In high school football, tiny footballs to decorate the players’ helmets are given out when an exceptional play is made. These are “perks” of honor that encourage and build esteem. A recent cartoon in the Daily Herald Fence Post section depicted the perverted perpetrator Jerry Sandusky’s “helmet” with the hash marks of his victims.
These boys are scarred for life and are desperately trying to seek normalcy. How can a newspaper justify this artist’s idea of a cartoon or statement? We all know the sordid, sick details — no cure reminder is necessary. I see no honor here. A new low for the Herald.
