Sedgebrook to Host Summer Games

Sedgebrook senior retirement community will be hosting its Summer Olympic Games on Friday, July 27th-Friday, August 10th. The event will include more than a dozen competitions. Jessica Jonckheere, wellness coordinator for Sedgebrook, said that the goal of the Annual Summer Games “is pure and simple…to have fun! “ She added that the Summer Games include something for virtually everyone, with activities including swimming, Wii bowling, putting, track and field, water volleyball and more. With a nod to the 2012 London Olympics, this year's event will also include opening and closing ceremonies.

Jonckheere said that Sedgebrook initiated summer games during the Beijing Olympics in 2008. “Ever since those two weeks in August, our residents have asked when the summer games will be, which we hold every summer but a little scaled down. This summer, with the London Olympics, we've geared up for another big event with all of the fanfare,” she said. “Each year we try to invent a new event to highlight, just like the International Olympic Committee does. This year's new event is the Soccer Goal Challenge.”

Sedgebrook is a senior apartment community located on a 92-acre campus in Lincolnshire. Sedgebrook offers luxurious CCRC services. For additional information visit www.welometosedgebrook.com
