Rise in property tax is astounding

Yesterday’s mail brought the dreaded Cook County property tax bills to our humble little home. Knowing that our governor and the rest of Illinois’ crooked politicians are depending upon me to help dig them out the financial mess into which they have sunk our pathetic state, I went over to Chase Bank today and paid the darn thing.

Looking at the bills covering 2010 that we paid in 2011 and then the ones covering 2011 that I paid this year, I noticed the “fine print” that shows: 1) Last year’s bills increased by $839.01. 2) This year’s bills increased by $406.24. Thus our taxes have gone up $1245.25 in two years! I figure that that 25 cents on the end is most likely due to the fact that one of the Cook County politicians bought himself a giant gumball from one of those machines at Walmart. Far be it from me to deprive the poor guy of this little joy in his life.
