Grizzlies go deep, come back to best Boomers

The Gateway Grizzlies hit 3 homers to overcome a 3-0 deficit to top the Schaumburg Boomers 4-3 in the opener of a six-game roadtrip Thursday night in Sauget, Ill.

The Boomers grabbed their 3-0 lead in the third inning as Jereme Milons hit his third homer of the season with one away and Frank Pfister produced a 2-run double later in the inning.

Matt Kuna (2-1) pitched a season high 6 innings and struck out a career-best seven but suffered the loss. The Grizzlies scored all their runs via the home run; Kuna allowed two of them in the sixth inning.

The series continues Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. start featuring all-star pitchers Cameron Roth (6-3, 2.91) for the Boomers and Tim Brown (5-2, 2.07) for the Grizzlies.
