Sugar Grove hires interim police chief

Sugar Grove has hired an interim police chief.

Ron Moser was appointed to the position Tuesday.

Moser was police chief in Hanover Park from 1998 to 2009, then its village manager until retiring in 2012.

He will fill in while the village looks for a replacement for Brad Sauer, who retired at the end of June. Sauer had been with the Sugar Grove Police Department since 1988, and was chief since 2003.

“The village is extremely glad to have Chief Moser on board,” Sugar Grove Village President Sean Michel said in a prepared statement.

“The trustees and I feel that he will be a perfect fit in this interim period as we work toward a plan for the future and work through the hiring process.

“Chief Moser has an outstanding list of law enforcement certifications and credentials, and a thorough knowledge of disaster planning. Chief Moser will be an integral part of the day-to-day police department operations, and aid us in determining what will be required of a departmental leader.”
