Arlington Heights teen accused of punching teen, stealing phone

A 19-year-old Arlington Heights man is accused of punching a Mount Prospect teen in the face and stealing the victim’s cellphone, according to police.

Officers responded to the 2300 block of Lexington Drive in Mount Prospect at about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday after the altercation, but were unable to locate the suspect, according to police.

Police said Owen struck the 17-year-old victim in the face, took the phone and fled on foot.

Police said Owen and the victim were acquaintances.

On Wednesday, Mount Prospect police located Christopher Owen, of the 0-99 block of 11th Avenue in Arlington Heights, and arrested him in connection to the strong armed robbery.

Owens fled from police for several minutes as they attempted to arrest him at about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, but officers eventually caught the teen, according to police.

Owens was charged with robbery, and a judge set his bail at $5,000.

His next court date is Aug. 9 in Rolling Meadows.
