Baseball academy opening in Carol Stream
A baseball skills instruction business is coming to Carol Stream.
The Ball Yard Academy, run by coach Mark Hayward, will locate in currently vacant warehouse space at 445 Randy Road in the village's industrial district.
MV Transportation uses the property for its base of operations for the PACE Bus service it provides in DuPage County, officials say, but it doesn't use about 7,400 square feet of space in the building. So the transportation company is subleasing that space to Hayward.
The village board approved a special use permit for the facility this week.
Hayward will provide personalized baseball instruction for high school and college players. The facility will have two netted tunnels: one for hitting instruction using live pitching, and the other for ground ball fielding and pitching instruction.
Training sessions will be by appointment only.
