Thanks for stand on gay marriage
Thank you for the Gays and Marriage editorial of July 2; very thoughtful and articulate. I was glad for the initial recognition of the debates of issues in our history. And thank you for the quote from Abraham Lincoln. I was reminded of a similar quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.: “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”
Thank you for taking a clear, resolute and courageous stand in this very divisive debate. Our denomination, the Church of the Brethren, has been arguing for years about gay and lesbian issues. Perhaps we and other religious organizations will one day follow in the footsteps of hundreds of universities, businesses, health care organizations and publications who are taking the lead in recognizing the humanity and the rights of all persons.
I am thankful that the Daily Herald is providing a clear path to an equitable future for all citizens.
