Parker notes true triumphs of women

I want to thank Kathleen Parker for her two wonderfully written articles on Laura Bush and Ann Romney. Growing up as a teenager and then a young mother in the 1960s and ’70s, I was often on the bandwagon for women’s rights. I even believed in NOW — but haven’t agreed with the nasty remarks they have spewed forth against conservative women for the last 10 years!

I thank Kathleen for pointing out the accomplishments of Laura Bush that she chose to keep private. Laura Bush has more grace and dignity and class in her little toe than Ms. Sonia Pressman Fuentes could even hope to have. The things our former first lady did for children, education and women’s rights are far more important and will have more substance than worrying about schools serving french fries and pizza.

Thank you also, Kathleen, for pointing out the difference between Jackie Kennedy being allowed to have horses, which the media covered quite extensively as so wonderful, but Ann Romney owning horses, according to the “left wing” is a horrible capitalistic sin.

Keep the articles coming, Kathleen Parker — your words are thoughtful and carefully written and hopefully will make a difference to people who read them. Thank you for giving me a reason to be a “proud conservative mother of four” and grandmother of 6. I will continue to look forward to your articles.
