Lombard owes thanks to ComEd

On behalf of the village of Lombard, I wish to publicly thank ComEd for its prompt and efficient response to our residents and businesses in restoring their power after our recent storm.

Lombard was one of the communities hardest hit by the storm. With wind gusts of 80-100 mph, uprooted trees, downed power lines and damaged electrical equipment, there was much to be attended to. At the height of the storm, it was estimated that 15,635 residents were without service. As of July 5, 98.7% of the outages had been restored.

Loss of electricity is a difficult situation for property owners and families, especially coupled with the extreme temperatures that we have been experiencing. I wish to commend ComEd for restoring most of those who lost power within 48 hours after the storm hit.

Our liaison to ComEd, John O'Halloran, external affairs manager, did an excellent job in communicating to our staff updates and information as it became available, helping us keep on top of the situation. We were in constant contact with him and I commend him for his efforts in keeping us informed.

ComEd provided two cooling buses which were set up in a centralized location for residents to take a break from the heat.

Thank you, ComEd, for your commitment to excellence and your timely response to restore power to the residents and businesses in the village of Lombard.

William J. “Bill” Mueller

Lombard village president
