ComEd must resolve power outage issues

When I look at my calendar I see the year 2012 but no one would know it if you based it on the ability of ComEd to provide dependable, and that's the key word, power to its customers.

As a child of the ‘50s (yes, those were the “tweet, tweet little bill” years), I have to say that this has to be the poorest example of this company serving its customers in many many years. Yes, even as they are forcing customers to accept their smart grid technology, they fail to realize that their mission statement and in my opinion their responsibility as a company should be to provide dependable uninterrupted power.

Why have we as customers become so complacent and willing to accept all of the interruptions to power that we pay ComEd to provide? How long can ComEd blame and hide behind their Act of Nature defense before they resolve the growing number of outages that we the paying customer have to put up with.

Hey, ComEd, wind and rain is going to happen. In all of my years on this planet and probably for all the years after I am gone, it is going to happen. It is time that you as a company devise a plan to resolve storm related outages so that your customers do not have to hold our breath every time the wind blows.

Here is an idea for you. Put the wires underground. If you can't do this then you should offer a subsidy to your customers to buy standby power units that run off natural gas.

My subdivision has all of its wiring underground but because of issues upstream or downstream we are continuously without power. Really, ComEd, the time has come today to resolve these issues.
