Hoffman Estates launches website to attract business

Hoffman Estates announced this week the launch of a new website that allows users to perform customizable searches for available commercial, industrial and retail properties in the village.

More than 100 properties are listed on the website, which can be accessed by visiting HoffmanEstatesSites.com or going to the village home page at HoffmanEstates.org and clicking on the “available properties” tab.

Director of Economic Development Gary Skoog said the website is more than just a database. Besides location, size and price listing for each property, users can find information ranging from where flood zones and utilities are located to demographic reports of the surrounding area and development incentives.

Before the new site, Skoog said, finding that information was “not as user friendly as it could be” and often took a lengthy amount of time.

“It’s a very powerful tool,” he said, adding that the village signed a one-year $6,000 contract with the makers of the website to get it up and running.

The site’s target audience includes anyone looking to open or relocate a business, brokers and site collectors, but Skoog hopes residents will take a look at the site’s features.

“Even though they’re not our primary audience, there’s some interesting features on our website that I think they’ll find interesting and valuable,” he said.

Skoog said he hasn’t done any analytics on the website yet so he doesn’t know how many visitors it has had since launching in May, but brokers have already said they appreciate how easy the site is to use.

The village hopes the site will be successful in bringing more businesses to town.

“We want to be branded as one of the leaders in using technology and promoting our community,” Skoog said. “We’re proud of it. We think it’s a great tool. It’s at the forefront of technology and we want people to use it.”
