Cut salaries of those who create taxes

I’m tired of these taxes affecting us citizens who can least afford it, the latest being $1 a pack on cigarettes. The tax is only forcing people who smoke to go across the state line.

I am not a smoker and never have been. What a shame that officials have to punish the very people who are paying their salary. Why don’t they take a cut in their salaries? Their salaries are more than they need and their pensions are way above what they need to survive.

The new saying is tax the poor and give to the rich. After all, they are rich because we bought their services or products and now when they could help us they won’t. They get the tax breaks and we get to pay more. Yet they don’t spend their money, they invest it. We are the ones who are spending to make the country grow. And if we had more to spend the economy would get better. It is that simple.

We all are having to take cuts across the board, so why shouldn’t they? Why not raise taxes on liquor? It is a proven fact that liquor kills more people than cigarettes ever will.
