Suspect descriptions need to list race

The Daily Herald needs to explain to the communities it serves why being politically correct is more important than the safety of the general public. On June 20 in the “Northwest suburbs in 60 seconds” section there is information on an attempted robbery in Palatine of a woman in her driveway. The offender is described as “a thin male, 20-30 years old, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts.” Without knowing the suspect’s race this information is almost useless. In order to protect ourselves the public should know whether the suspect is white, Hispanic, African-American, etc. Can the Daily Herald justify leaving out info necessary to our safety?
