The railroad crossing on Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach will close for a week, starting at 8 a.m. July 17. It will reopen July 24. The closing is necessary as the Canadian National Railroad works to repair the tracks and replace rubber crossing material at this location. The detour route will be from Route 83 to Washington Street to Hainesville Road. "This will be a significant (traffic) impact in north central Lake County," said Al Giertych, assistant county engineer, who advised commuters to use lakecountypassage.com, a live traffic site, to assist them in route planning.
