Hats off to Jaycees for the Palatine fest

I’m writing this letter because I’m hoping to make more public a little known fact about the Palatine’s 4th of July festival.

Every year Palatine enjoys its parade, entertainment, carnival, food and the fireworks!

What 95 percent of the people don’t know Is that all of this is put on by a group of volunteers every year. The event is not a city-run project but a group of people who work months and months getting ready for it, then during the fest, this group of people work grueling hours in all types of conditions — for free!

This group is the Palatine Jaycees. A nonprofit community service group.

Every aspect of running it falls into the hands of a group of people, who learn by doing. When communities are combining to put on festivals and the economy is so horrible, isn’t amazing that people come together to give to their community?

Please consider giving some much needed exposure to this.

I personally am a past member, who also used my vacation days, skipped holiday parties, family gatherings, etc. to work this multiday event.

Thank you for your consideration!
