Concealed carry could lower crime

Mike Fanella’s June 13 letter saying a concealed carry law will do more harm was ludicrous. This law would make our state safer! You have to look at the facts. All the states that have passed it have decreased crime significantly. The FBI just released figures showing all crime decreasing again last year in the U.S. As far as the law arming an assailant — here’s a tip, Mike — criminals already have concealed carry “illegally.”

Your statement about being at McDonald’s where all the moms and dads are “packing” tells me you have never left this state. If you were in any other state in this union at a McDonald’s, you were surrounded by packing moms and dads. I was at a restaurant in Wisconsin where some police and most of the patrons were dining with pistols on their sides. Guess what — no problems.

The latest statistics show more women applying for concealed carry permits than ever before. Women refuse to be a victim any longer.

You see, Mike, it’s only here in the lonely state of Illinois where we all remain victims open to assault by anyone. Sir, “not one” state has introduced a bill to repeal their conceal carry law. Why? Because it works.

Wisconsin even allows it in their state Capitol. Gov. Scott Walker has said that he has nothing to fear from law-abiding citizens. Wow a politician that sees the light!

If you don’t want to carry, it is your right, but the rest of us would like to protect ourselves and our loved ones. That’s our choice. Accidents with guns have just dropped off the top ten list, too. And, the ride on the el would be much safer for you.
