Batavia school board seeks new trustee

Batavia school Trustee Jayne Resek is quitting the board.

She announced the resignation at Tuesday’s school board meeting, citing increased travel for her job and increased family commitments as the reasons.

Resek was first elected in 2001. Her latest term expires in April.

A replacement is being sought to fill in the rest of the term. The next election is April 9.

Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, and a registered voter of Illinois and the school district for at least one year preceding the appointment.

The board, according to a news release from the district, would like the person to be familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the board, including fiduciary responsibilities, and policies on conflicts of interest, ethics and gift bans. The policies can be viewed on the website bps101.net, or at the district’s headquarters.

Send a letter and resume to Superintendent Jack Barshinger, Batavia Public Schools, 335 W. Wilson St., Batavia, 60510. Applicants can also email credentials to superintendent@bps101.net.

Applications are due at noon July 18.

Resek could not be reached Thursday for comment.
