Host a lemonade stand to benefit the Huntley library

Submitted by Huntley Area Public Library

Four years ago, the Hassells and the Laughlin families began raising money for the Huntley Area Public Library by hosting an annual lemonade stand and inviting the rest of the community to join in the fun.

During the week of July 23-29, families will choose a day to host a lemonade stand in their neighborhood to raise money for the library.

“The children are so excited when they come in to donate the money they raised,” said library Director Patrick McDonald.

Last year, more than $630 was donated and used to purchase materials for the children’s area of the library. The library will use any donations from this year’s lemonade stands for additional children’s materials.”

To participate and host your own lemonade stand, sign up ahead of time so you are recognized for your efforts. Individuals and businesses also can participate by donating $25 to the library and be recognized as a “Lemonhead” during this week.

Call the library by Monday, July 16, at (847) 669-5386, ext. 21, to register your participation.

On Wednesday, Aug. 1, participants can bring donations to the library to receive a certificate for their efforts and have their photo taken.
