Police seize synthetic drugs from Crystal Lake businesses

As part of an ongoing crackdown on synthetic drugs, the Illinois state’s attorney’s office partnered with local authorities in the seizure of more than $6,000 in drugs from two Crystal Lake businesses.

Investigators checking inventory at Cigarettes & More, 7103 Manor Road, and at City Mart, 35 Berkshire Drive, found a total of 180 packages of synthetic drugs late last week, the state’s attorney’s office announced Wednesday.

Police seized 132 packages at Cigarettes & More, values at $4,422 and another 48 at City Mart with a value of $1,680.

The bust was part of a statewide initiative named “Operation Smoked Out,” targeting the sale of synthetic drugs from retail stores.
