New indoor soccer league team to play at Sears Centre

Professional indoor soccer fans will have a new team to support this season as a Chicago franchise will join the Major Indoor Soccer League.

The Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates will once again house a Chicago-area franchise for the league that features teams from seven other cities in the country.

The new team is led by owners Armando Gamboa and Dave Mokry. Gamboa acts as the team’s CEO and Mokry serves as COO. No name has been announced yet. Tryouts will be held soon.

“We are delighted to be part of the excitement and tradition of the Major Indoor Soccer League and we look forward to working with the league and the other franchises to continue to grow the league,” Gamboa said in a news release.

The Chicago Storm played in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion, moving to the Sears Centre in 2006 and folded in 2011.

“Chicago is an important market for the MISL with a great deal of history in the league and a passionate fan base, so we’re obviously pleased to announce this addition,” MISL Senior Director Chris Economides said in a news release.

The 2012-2013 MISL schedules are expected to be released in August.
