• Dimitrius Bell, 25, of the 300 block of Kathleen Drive, Elgin, man was charged with aggravated battery and unlawful use of a deadly weapon after he stabbed another Elgin man in the abdomen with a pocket knife after a fistfight broke out about 5:15 p.m. Thursday in front of the Kathleen Drive residence reports said. Police said the victim was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with nonlife threatening injuries. Bell initially fled the scene but later turned himself in to the Elgin Police Department, the report said. Bail was set for Bell Friday morning at $30,000. He must pay $3,000 for release. Bell is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m., July 5 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• Ruby Duckins, 69, of the 300 block of Kathleen Drive, Elgin, faces several charges alleging he intended to sell between one and 15 grams of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park on Wednesday and that he had ammunition, which is unlawful for him, since he is a felon, according to charging documents. Duckins was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in a specified location and unlawful use or possession of weapons or ammunition by a felon, documents said. His bail was set Friday morning at $200,000, which means he needs $20,000 to get out of jail while his case moves through the courts. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 3 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• Fernando Gomez-Cruz, 25, of the 0-99 block of South Porter Street, Elgin, was arrested Friday on a single burglary charge. Police say that on Friday morning, he entered a 2000 red Chevrolet parked in the 300 block of Locust Street with the intent to steal something out of it. His bail was set at $10,000, which means he needs $1,000 to secure his release while his case is pending. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday at the Kane County Judicial Center.
