Schaumburg man charged with defrauding drug test

A Schaumburg man was charged with a single count of defrauding a drug screening earlier this week.

Brian J. Uchwat, 29, of the 1600 block of Churchill Road, was charged with the felony count of defrauding a drug and alcohol screening by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Uchwat reported as scheduled to his McHenry County Adult Probation Officer for a drug test on Wednesday, but was told he must provide a drug screening.

During the urine test, Uchwat provided a sample to test takers of water he removed from the toilet, authorities said.

Members of the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division were notified of the test, and as a result, Uchwat was taken into custody and transported to the McHenry County jail.

Court Services Director Phil Dailing noted that any attempt by a person on probation to tamper with a court-ordered urine screen is considered a serious matter and requires an immediate response from the sheriff's office.

Authorities said they didn't immediately have information available on Uchwat's next scheduled court date or the reason for the court-ordered drug test.
