Gurnee police traffic crackdown:

Gurnee police have announced a special enforcement campaign that’ll coincide with the Fourth of July holiday. Starting Friday, June 22 and running through July 4, the police department will conduct additional occupant protection and impaired driver enforcement patrols. Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the additional patrols are established to focus on removing impaired drivers from roadways and achieve a higher use of safety belts, child safety and booster seats. As part of the department’s overall traffic safety initiatives, the special enforcement activities will augment existing enforcement efforts. Officers assigned to the special details will have zero tolerance for traffic violations,

particularly impaired driving, speeding, and lack of safety belt or child seat use.
