Elgin police arrest four on drug charges

Elgin police said they recovered cocaine and two firearms while executing four search warrants simultaneously Wednesday night.

Police executed the search in response to an undercover operation launched when neighbors began complaining of drug sales throughout a building on the 300 block of Kathleen Drive, according to authorities.

Detectives recovered 6 grams of cocaine, items indicative of drug sales and use, two firearms and more than 100 rounds of ammunition during the search, according to police.

Police arrested Ruby Duckins, 69, on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of ammunition by a felon, and James E. Bell, 66, on a possession of a controlled substance charge. Roosevelt D. Williams, 35, and John W. Johnson, 65, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. All four suspects live on the 300 block of Kathleen Drive.

The suspects will appear in bond call Thursday morning.
