Mount Prospect library hosts free pet health seminar

Dr. Mark Howes, DVM, will present an educational seminar titled, “Your Guide To A Happy & Healthy Pet” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Mount Prospect Public Library. The seminar is free and open to the public.

Dr. Howes is the medical director and owner of Berglund Animal Hospital, in Evanston. He is a graduate of the Iowa State University School of Veterinary Medicine and serves as a board member for the Canine Therapy Corps and the Northwestern University Center for Talent Development.

Dr. Howes is a frequent guest on Comcast cable TV’s “Contempo” show and the author of a monthly pet advice column titled “Howes Calls,” that is published in the Voyager Media newspapers.

The one-hour seminar will cover topics such as preventive medicine for pets; vaccinations; how to choose a veterinarian; seasonal pet health issues; pet health insurance; pet emergencies; specialties of veterinary medicine; modern technology in today’s veterinary medical hospitals; food and nutrition; selecting an appropriate pet to match your lifestyle; and caring for the senior pet. A question-and-answer session immediately follows the seminar.
