Driver dies in rural rollover in Hampshire

One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on a rural Hampshire road Thursday night, officials said. The vehicle was split in two during the crash, which occurred on Walker Road between Route 72 and Allen Road just before 9 p.m., officials said.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle, which Hampshire Fire District Deputy Chief Trevor Herrmann said rolled during the crash.

Emergency crews responding to the scene found the sedan in a corn field, Herrmann said.

Fire crews cut the victim from the vehicle, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The Kane County sheriff’s office remained on the scene late Thursday night and is investigating.

Sheriff’s officials could not be reached Thursday night.
