Palatine man dies after weekend motorcycle crash
A 41-year-old Palatine man died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a weekend motorcycle crash in Wisconsin.
Randy J. Dettloff was driving a Harley-Davidson in LaGrange, Wis, when he lost control. Detloff and a female passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, according to police.
Dettloff was airlifted from the scene of the early Saturday afternoon crash to a Milwaukee-area hospital, according to the Walworth County sheriff's office. Police said he suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
Dettloff was driving the 1986 Harley-Davidson north on County Truck Highway H about three-quarters of a mile north of Greening Road when he left the roadway, police said. He attempted to regain control but overcorrected, causing the crash, police said.
The passenger, Holly Strever, 37, of Delavan, Wis., did not suffer serious injuries in the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
Neither Dettloff nor Strever was wearing a helmet, police said.
Dettloff, a father of two, was a general superintendent for M.G. Electric and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134.
