Island Lake offering summer programs for kids

Parents looking for a place where their child can have a good time while learning new and exciting things this summer can send them to Little Scampers, Camp Greenleaf or Kindergarten Kapers in Island Lake.

Run by the Island Lake recreation department, the programs are hands-on courses staged outdoors when weather permits. All will be at Village Hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave.

Scampers is for children who are 3 to 5 years old, and it runs June 12 through July 26, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Special theme weeks such as Paint Week, Zoo Week, Wild West Week and Water and Beach Week are planned. The cost is $13 per day.

Camp Greenleaf is for kids between the ages of 6 and 8. It will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. Special theme weeks such as Zoo Week, Garden Week, Water and Beach Week and Wild West Week are planned. The program costs $15 per day.

Kindergarten Kapers is designed to help your 4- or 5-year-old child review and retain curriculum skills for fall. Kids will explore new and exciting avenues of learning while reviewing skills they learned this school year. The class will be on Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $17 per day.
