Buffalo Grove won’t hold water forum

Buffalo Grove Village President Jeffrey Braiman said he sees no need for a public forum to discuss water. The idea was urged by former Trustee Lisa Stone at this week’s village board meeting. Stone, who, along with Brenda Weis, has founded the Lake County-Vernon Township Coalition for Safe Drinking Water, has raised questions about the water serving the Pekara subdivision in unincorporated Lake County, which is located near one of the county’s wastewater facilities. “If we’re right, you’re going to care — and you know whether we’re right or wrong,” Stone said. “And if we’re wrong, then you’ll just nail us and say, ‘My goodness, you wasted all year long.” After the meeting, Braiman, who has maintained that the issue is out of the village’s jurisdiction, said, “We have told her — how many times? — there is nothing we can do about the issues she is talking about.”
