Fire engine chauffeurs Mt. Prospect boy to school

Mount Prospect second-grader Carter Jedras and his friend Bryce Tuchner rode to school Thursday morning in style.

An engine from the Mount Prospect Fire Department picked the boys up at Jedras’ house and gave them the special ride to Fairview Elementary School, part of a prize that the Jedras family won during a recent fundraising dinner hosted by the Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 Foundation.

The prize allowed Jedras to bring a friend with him on the special ride to school. Other elements of the prize included dinner cooked by a local firefighter and lunch with Mount Prospect Mayor Irvana Wilks. Jedras’ mother, Jennifer, said they’ve already had dinner with the firefighter and look forward to meeting the mayor.
