Renovated Carol Stream park opens Saturday

By Daily Herald report

A newly renovated McCaslin Park in Carol Stream officially will open Saturday following a ribbon-cutting ceremony by park district officials.

A $3.5 million renovation project reconfigured the park's four baseball/softball diamonds, which now face outward from a central building with concessions, bathrooms and storage space. The fields also include lighting and synthetic turf, which will increase the number of games played and reduce the number of rainouts, officials say.

The ribbon-cutting and ceremonial first pitch kicking off the first day of baseball at McCaslin is at 9:30 a.m. The park is located at North Avenue and St. Charles Road.
