Elk Grove museum marks Civil War’s 150th anniversary

The Elk Grove Historical Museum will host a free event marking the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 2, on the museum grounds, 399 Biesterfield Road. The event will feature live cannon firings by Taylor’s Battery and Civil War era music by the Battlefield Balladeers. Re-enactors representing the 10th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, 8th Veteran Reserve Corps, and 154th Tennessee Confederate Infantry will be present. Admission is free. Visitors will be able to create a hand-dipped candle and Civil War toy for a $3 fee. For more information, call the historical society at (847) 439-3994.
