Northwestern Lacrosse to play Maryland in Final Four

For the eighth straight season, Northwestern will compete in the final four of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.

The Wildcats (19-2) will play Maryland (19-3) on Friday at the Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. The winner will take on either No. 4 Syracuse or No. 1 Florida for the national title on May 27.

Saturday’s game is a rematch of the last two championship games, which the teams split with Northwestern taking last season’s title and Maryland winning it all in 2010. Prior to Maryland’s championship, Northwestern had won five-straight NCAA titles.

The second-ranked Wildcats defeated No. 7 Duke 12-7 in Saturday’s quarterfinals matchup. No. 3 Maryland took down No. 6 Loyola 17-11 in the quarterfinals and will enter the match on an eight-game win streak.
