Hawthorn Woods home damaged in fire

Firefighters from more than a dozen departments responded to a Hawthorn Woods house fire Sunday morning.

Lake Zurich and Wauconda firefighters originally responding to the home in the 26200 block of Fairfield Road found the home engulfed in flames at about 10:40 a.m., officials said.

The original crews sounded a mutual aid alarm upon seeing the blaze, and firefighters from Barrington, Cary, Countryside, Fox River Grove, Grayslake, Lake Villa, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, Nunda, Palatine, Round Lake and the South Lake County Cert Team responded.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the single home, and saved an adjacent building, officials said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Sunday night.

There were no injuries during the fire.
