Schaumburg police seek witnesses of motorcycle crash

The death of a 50-year-old Schaumburg man in a motorcycle crash early Wednesday evening has been ruled an accident, but investigators are still seeking to determine how and why it occurred.

Mark Braun, of the 300 block of Hickory Court, was pronounced dead at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates after the 6:37 p.m. crash, officials from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

An autopsy determined his cause of death to be the result of multiple injuries from the accident. But Schaumburg police have already interviewed two witnesses and are seeking more in their investigation of how the accident happened, Sgt. John Nebl said.

Braun was alone on his motorcycle when he struck a curb at the intersection of Irving Park Road and Wise Road, Nebl said.

Eastbound Wise Road was shut down at Irving Park until 9:45 p.m. while the Schaumburg Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team investigated.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call (847) 882-3534.
