Hawks’ Frolik doesn’t get to enjoy goal for long

text size: AAA

Oh, what could have been for Michael Frolik.

On Tuesday, Frolik, who was a helathy scratch in the first two games of the Western Conference quarterfinal series, came through with a go-ahead goal in the third period, only to see the Coyotes battle back to tie things up and eventually win in overtime.

"It was a big goal," Frolik said after morning skate Thursday. "I hadn't scored in a while and it was a nice feeling.

"Too bad it didn't help to win the game, but we're going to build on that tonight."

Frolik sure tried his best to make it happen again for the Blackhawks, keying a rally from a 2-0 third period deficit by knocking in the game-tying goal at the 18:34 mark, causing the packed house to double check if they could actually believe what they were seeing.

But just like Tuesday, the euphoria was short-lived as Phoenix struck early in OT.

"It's been painful," Frolik said of the Hawks' second consecutive home loss. "Every game is so tight. Every detail is important.

"We had a great comeback tonight. It's hard. It's disappointing, but we have to keep our heads up. We have to learn from this."

And win three straight.

"We're going to do everything we can to win in Phoenix and bring the series back here," he said.
