Boy rescued from drowning in Des Plaines pool

A 4-year-old boy was rescued from drowning Saturday afternoon after being found unresponsive in a Des Plaines pool, authorities said.

According to a statement by Des Plaines police, the boy and his family were attending a family gathering in the 1700 block of Forest Avenue when the near drowning occurred. Police said the child and family members were swimming in a backyard pool when he was found.

Family members pulled the boy from the pool and immediately administered CPR, police said. Des Plaines police and fire departments responded to the residence about 5:15 p.m. and transported the boy to Advocate to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment.

Police said the child was in stable condition Sunday.
