Train strikes pedestrian in Villa Park

A train struck a pedestrian along the Union Pacific West line in Villa Park during the Friday evening rush hour, authorities said.
Scanner reports indicated the person was hit by the train about 5:45 p.m. near the tracks' intersection with Westmore Avenue.
The condition of the victim, identified as a female, was unknown, though an official with the Villa Park Fire Department said the DuPage County Coroner was involved in the investigation.
Metra trains experienced delays of up to 90 minutes both inbound and outbound while authorities investigated.
