Brush fire destroys abandoned barn in Hampshire

A late afternoon brush fire burned down two abandoned buildings in Hampshire Thursday, according to fire officials.

A controlled fire at a brush pile spread and reached the building at 16N429 Route 20 at about 4 p.m., officials said.

When firefighters arrived after receiving a call at 4:04 p.m., both an abandoned barn and shed were engulfed in flames, said Hampshire Fire Captain Trevor Herrmann.

Both buildings were destroyed by the blaze, officials said.

Firefighters had the fire under control at 5 p.m., and no one was injured.
