Coroner: ID of Warrenville crash victim expected tomorrow

Authorities have obtained dental records of the presumed victim of a fiery car crash over the weekend in Warrenville and are expected to identify the person Thursday afternoon.

The woman was killed early Sunday when her car struck an aboveground natural gas line and was engulfed in flames, police said.

Police believe she was the only person in the vehicle, which crashed on Diehl Road west of Winfield Road about 2:50 a.m.

A family has been working with Warrenville police in identifying the victim, according to DuPage County Coroner Peter Siekmann.

Police were able to look up the registration on the severely damaged vehicle, Siekmann said.

Warrenville police referred all questions to the coroner’s office.

Siekmann said the supposed victim’s boyfriend informed the coroner’s office that she had recently been to a dentist and authorities obtained her dental records about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“The fire was so devastating, at this point its unknown,” Siekmann said.

A forensic’s lab is comparing skeletal remains from the crash with those dental x-ray records, and authorities are expected to positively identify the victim by late Thursday afternoon, Siekmann said.
