Good Friday observance in Villa Park

Congregation members at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park observed the holiday with their 20th annual Good Friday Walk.

Brendan McArdle carried the cross for the 15th straight year to signify the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary.

McArdle says he enjoys being part of the observance. “I’d like to keep doing it for many more years to come.”

Parishioners walked to the 12 Stations of the Cross for readings.

“It’s all about peace and social justice in the modern world,” organizer Diane D’Emico said.

Later in the day, St. Alexander teens performed the Passion Play.
