‘Smile’ creator to lead Des Plaines comics workshop

Raina Telgemeier, author and illustrator of the award-winning book “Smile” wants to teach you how to make comics. This free Des Plaines Public Library sponsored workshop will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the library Media Center at Algonquin Middle School. All kids in grades six-12 are welcome to attend.

At the program, Telgemeier will talk about making comics and writing stories. Then participants will get a chance to start making their own comics. As a bonus, everyone at the program will get a free copy of “Smile.” Telgemeier will sign those copies after the program.
