Man charged with stealing chain saw from shed

A 911 call to Mount Prospect police reporting a suspicious individual Friday afternoon in the 2000 block of Ivy Lane in Mount Prospect led to the arrest of Krzysztof Dudzinski, address unknown, on charges of burglary and resisting a police officer.

Cook County Judge John Tourtelot set bail at $50,000 for the 20-year-old man during a bond hearing Saturday in Rolling Meadows.

An officer responding to the 911 call spotted Dudzinski wearing no shirt, and carrying a large object wrapped in a T-shirt, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Anisa Jordan.

When the officer approached Dudzinski, he dropped the object, which was a chain saw, and continued walking, Jordan said. Dudzinski initially complied with the officer’s order to stop and place his hands on the police vehicle, then pulled away, Jordan said.

The victim identified the saw taken from her shed, and Dudzinski later made a statement to police admitting he took the saw, Jordan said.

Dudzinski next appears in court on April 6.
