Hoffman Estates drug charges dismissed

Drug possession charges against an Elmwood Park woman, one of six people arrested last month at a Hoffman Estates sports bar, have been dropped, court records show.

Cherie Torres, who prosecutors say had no criminal background, had been charged with possession of a controlled substance after police found what they suspected were hydrocodone pills in a purse. During Torres' bond hearing, her defense attorney said that the 51-year-old admitted to police the pills were hers. Torres takes the pills because she suffers from physical problems, her attorney said.

Torres had been free on bond.

At the time of the arrests, officers were executing search warrants for the premises of Official's Time Out and for former bartender Tiffany Hernandez, 32, of Streamwood, who prosecutors say sold undercover officers cocaine on three separate occasions. She has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance.

Also charged with possession were Christopher Beach of Palatine, Melanie Goranson of Hoffman Estates and Michael Kenney of Fox River Grove. They next appear in court in August.

Rolando Aguirre, 33, of Hoffman Estates, who was wanted on a DuPage County warrant on charges of misdemeanor theft, was also arrested.

He and Hernandez next appear in court on April 5.
