Body found in Cook County forest preserve

A man found dead from an apparent gunshot in the back parking lot of a Palatine forest preserve has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for investigation, Cook County Forest Preserve Police spokeswoman Karen Vaughan said.

Palatine paramedics found the man with a gunshot wound to his head at about 11 a.m. today at Camp Alphonse, 1500 W. Dundee Road, in the Deer Grove Preserve.

Authorities don’t suspect foul play and are awaiting the medical examiner’s determination on the cause of death.
