McHenry man killed in motorcycle crash

A 41-year-old McHenry man died Saturday from injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with a car near his hometown, authorities said.

Edward A. Wald was driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound in the 5700 block of Fox Lake Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. when it drifted into the southbound lane, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, and struck a 2012 Audi A4.

Wald was taken to Centegra Hospital with serious injuries that ultimately caused his death, the sheriff’s department said. The driver of the Audi was treated for his injuries and released at the scene.

The crash investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s office.

McHenry County Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said it will take several weeks to get toxicology results that may determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
