There is likely no better person to comment on the character of Kane County board member Cristina Castro than I. After all, I have known her most of my life.

Some people fear childhood friends. They know everything about you. Before Cristina dedicated her life to public service and even now, I know her like few others. I know her deep commitment to whatever she does. I know her love of Elgin and her strong desire to help people. I know her tenacity and incredible work ethic.

I have watched her grow from a little girl into a self-made woman who strives to help people all people. Whether it was watching her seek office while earning her MBA and working full time at Elgin Community College or watching her complete devotion to her elderly mother.

I know the people of Elgin are lucky to be served by such an accomplished and compassionate woman. I am proud to stand with Cristina Castro as I have since the first grade at Century Oaks Elementary School.
