Fairview principal resigning to take over at Winnetka school

April Jordan, principal of Fairview Elementary School in Mount Prospect, will leave at the end of this school year to become principal at The Skokie School in Winnetka District 36.

The Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 school board is expected to accept Jordan’s resignation at its regular business meeting on March 15. Superintendent Elaine Aumiller said the district will move swiftly to find a new principal to lead Fairview. “We will be losing a valued administrator, and we will be sad to see her go,” Aumiller said. “But we recognize that this move will bring new challenges and opportunities to the next chapter of April’s career.” Jordan is “an innovator and strong educational leader,” according to Aumiller. “She is one of the finest administrators I’ve had the privilege of working with,” she said. “Since April became principal in 2007, her hard work, dedication to the students and insight have helped Fairview grow and improve.”

Under Jordan’s leadership, Fairview was selected as a Blue Ribbon School, a prestigious national honor. In addition, Fairview has achieved both the Bright Red Apple Award and Academic Excellence Award multiple years. District 57 serves more than 2,000 prekindergarten through eighth-grade students in Mount Prospect.
