Hawks sign goalie, assign him to Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed goaltender Carter Hutton to a one-year contract and assigned him to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Hutton, 26, has compiled a 10-8-2 record with one shutout and a .902 save percentage in 23 regular-season tilts with the IceHogs this year, and a 7-7-0 mark in 14 appearances with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye. The Thunder Bay, Ontario, native has posted a 22-17-2 record with 3 shutouts and a .904 save percentage in 49 career AHL contests with Rockford, Worcester (2010-11) and Adirondack (2009-10) following a collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts — Lowell.
